Brief 

Update the espresso machine to fit contemporary professional equipment aesthetics, inspired by the 1965 Rancilio machine.

Contemporary aesthetics -

Plastic and chrome finishes to highlight details (handles, edges, logos).

Project Learnings 

  • Components should be designed based on whether they can actually be manufactured, not based on what looks visually good.

  • Different modelling techniques, and focusing on the details of each part- how they will interact with the other parts- male and female parts.

  • Rendering techniques, and how to place and present the product when modelling/ rendering. It makes a lot of difference.

  • When you have amazing group members who are respectful and encouraging- the project becomes more exciting, and each member brings out the best in each other. You can learn a lot from them on every step of the way.
